Ryan Gallagher and Olympic swimmer Emily Seebohm announced their engagement on 6 March 2023, after meeting while filming The Challenge Australia in 2022. At the time they met, Seebohm was reportedly in another relationship. She told Woman’s Day, in remarks quoted by PerthNow, that she ended it after realizing there was a connection with Gallagher: “Obviously it wasn’t a nice call to make, but I told him what was going on and that there was something there with Ryan and I didn’t see the point in wasting any more time.”

Seebohm described the proposal as personal, saying: “It definitely had a Ryan flair to it and it’s something I’ll cherish forever.” Gallagher joked that the ring box made a bulge in his pocket, adding that Seebohm might have guessed he was proposing—or thought he was “happy to see her.”

Nine later described the engagement ring as a trilogy diamond ring, with a larger central stone and two smaller stones. Its reporting did not identify a jeweller or model.

Gallagher appeared on Married at First Sight in 2018, according to PerthNow. Seebohm is a former Australian backstroke swimmer and four-time Olympian. Channel 4’s 8 January 2026 press interview says she retired from swimming in 2025.
