Jordan’s dual role in Sinners, then apologized onstage. A report described Jordan’s mother, Donna, sipping her drink and rolling her eyes as cameras showed her; those visible gestures do not establish what she felt.
What was the joke?
Glaser’s punchline played on the fact that Jordan portrays twin brothers in Sinners. According to AmoMama’s January 12 account, Glaser said, “When I saw that, I was like, ‘Nikki B Jerkin’,’ because that was AWESOME.” The pun was sexual wordplay on Jordan’s name and his two roles.
The official Golden Globes page for Sinners confirms that Jordan plays twin brothers. It describes the film as a story set in the 1930s Mississippi Delta that blends blues, horror, spirituality and social commentary.
How did Glaser respond?
AmoMama reports that Glaser immediately acknowledged the joke might have been better sent privately, saying, “That should’ve been a DM.” She then apologized to Jordan, adding, “I’m sorry, Michael. Why did I make that joke? You’re one of the greatest — I know your mom, I’m so sorry! I should not have said that to you […] My mistake. My mistake.” These lines are attributed to Glaser by the secondary account; they should not be treated as a verified full broadcast transcript.

What did Donna Jordan do—and what is known about her reaction?
AmoMama says cameras showed Donna Jordan sipping a drink and rolling her eyes during the moment. Those are reported visible actions, not a statement from her about the joke. No first-person explanation from Donna was found in the cited accounts, so claims that she was offended, embarrassed or unable to handle the joke go beyond what is established.
What does the next-day interview add?
ABC’s January 12 Jimmy Kimmel Live! episode listing says Jordan discussed bringing his mother to the Globes, women lusting after him, and playing twins in Sinners. The listing does not say that Jordan or his mother discussed Glaser’s specific joke.
What can be said about the audience response?
AmoMama quoted selected viewer reactions, including “In front of his mom?!” and a post-style comment asking people to check on Jordan’s mother. These examples show that some viewers reacted to the exchange; they are not polling, a measure of the event’s reach, or evidence of broad audience sentiment. No attributed engagement figure or defined sample is provided.
The Golden Globes’ official video archive lists videos from the 83rd ceremony, including Glaser’s mid-show recap. The archive listing alone does not verify this specific exchange or Donna Jordan’s response.

Why Sinners mattered to the punchline
The joke depended on Jordan playing both twin brothers, rather than on a separate event or award. The Golden Globes’ official film page lists seven nominations for Sinners at the 2026 ceremony and two wins: Best Original Score and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
