What she has said is that she did not want to discuss Stefani in interviews: the breakup period was painful, she had already put its truths into her music, and she feared her words would be taken out of context. Her reluctance does not, by itself, establish hostility.
What did Miranda Lambert say about Gwen Stefani?
In a 2018 interview with Holly Gleason for HITS Daily Double, Lambert recalled an interviewer asking, “How do you feel about Gwen?” She said, “I hung up. I told Marion, I just can’t do this.” Us Weekly reported the exchange on July 3, 2018: Us Weekly’s account of Lambert’s interview.
Lambert described her choice as a response to the painful period surrounding her 2016 album, The Weight of These Wings, not as a public attack on Stefani. She said she had avoided press interviews because she did not want to revisit that time.
Why did Lambert avoid answering questions?
Lambert said she believed the songs already communicated what she wanted listeners to understand: “All the sad moments were there, all the truths were right in those songs. All you had to do was listen. I didn’t need to say anything.” She also explained that interview remarks could be taken out of context and create expectations she could not meet.

In that account, silence was a boundary around a painful experience and the way she wanted the music to speak. It is not enough evidence to conclude that she was jealous of or resentful toward Stefani.
Did Lambert ever say she liked Gwen Stefani?
A November 2015 E! News report said, citing unnamed sources, that Lambert had “nothing against Gwen,” considered her a talented artist, and wished the couple well. Those sentiments were attributed to anonymous sources, not quoted as Lambert’s own direct statement. The distinction matters: the report offers a secondhand account, while Lambert’s later comments directly describe why she would not discuss the subject.
