What did Jesse Watters ask Michael Richards?
Watters interviewed Richards for Jesse Watters Primetime in June 2024. Fox News’s video listing, published June 7, describes a conversation about Richards’s new book, comedy, and his years playing Kramer on Seinfeld. The listing does not include a transcript: Fox News’s video page.
Mediaite’s June 7 account describes a teasing exchange about watching a television show after a career is over. Watters joked that he might someday watch every episode of his own program with his son. Richards replied, “Yeah, Jesse. You will be. I’m sure you will be.” That is the exchange documented in the contemporaneous written coverage; it is not a question about whether Richards was a fan.
Why was Richards on Fox News?
Richards was promoting his memoir, Entrances and Exits. Fox’s clip description says he discussed the book alongside comedy and his time on Seinfeld. Fox News Radio’s June 14 interview page also identifies the memoir and says Richards discussed his life, the series, and the 2006 Laugh Factory incident: Fox News Radio’s interview page.

What did Richards say about rewatching Seinfeld?
Richards said he had not watched the series as it aired because he was focused on how to improve his own work. While preparing the memoir, he watched the episodes in order with his son. Mediaite reported that the experience gave him distance from his performance and a fresh appreciation for the show. Richards described its result this way: “The chemistry and the outcome was just sensational.”
What did he say about comedy and political correctness?
In a separate exchange reported by The Daily Caller, Watters asked whether political correctness was killing comedy, then followed up, “Is it?” Richards said greater sensitivity about how people speak to one another could be good for comedy, and that comedy remained alive. What the headline gets wrong—or leaves unverified
The headline’s “fan” question and description of Richards’s facial expression are not established by the written accounts cited here. Fox’s official clip listing provides no transcript, and Mediaite’s report documents the joke about Watters’s future viewing habits instead. Without confirming those moments in the video, they should not be presented as verified dialogue or reaction.
The appearance was a book-and-career interview, not a new controversy. Richards played Kramer from 1989 to 1998. His 2006 racial outburst at the Laugh Factory became a major public scandal; in a June 2024 interview with the Today show, as reported by Fox News, he called it despicable and described stepping away from show business to examine his anger. That context helps explain why his return to interviews drew interest, but it is distinct from the exchange with Watters.
