On the May 7, 2024 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Kelly Ripa joked that some men at a nude cruise should put on more clothes. The comment came during a lighthearted discussion of nudity at cruises, weddings and at home—not as a formal campaign or policy statement.
What did Kelly Ripa say?
During the conversation, Ripa turned to the camera and said, “Some of you guys, you know who you are, should put on more clothes. Nobody needs to see it. If we think it’s burned fruit…” The wording is reported by Entertainment Weekly; the ellipsis is part of the reported quotation.
The line was a joke about some men choosing to be nude. The contemporary account says the audience laughed, after which co-host Mark Consuelos moved the show along.
What was the conversation about?
Ripa and Consuelos were discussing nudity in several settings, including nude beaches, weddings and a nude cruise. One topic was a clothing rule for the cruise’s indoor buffet. Ripa joked, “I have a very strict buffet policy. What did I say? No nudity in the kitchen. I feel like that’s a separation of church and state.” She also imagined herself as “the Judge Judy of the nude cruise.” Those remarks are attributed to her in a follow-up account from Entertainment Weekly.

How does the 2023 interview fit in?
In an October 2023 Men’s Health interview, Ripa discussed criticism of her and Consuelos talking about the dating show Naked Attraction. She said people had thought she was talking about her husband, but clarified: “I wasn’t talking about his penis. I was talking about other people’s penises!” Consuelos joked, “We can’t help it if we’re sexy!” The interview offers context for how Ripa described their on-air discussion of the show’s contestants; it does not independently verify the 2024 broadcast segment.
