Fowler’s account makes “fixed” a punchy headline shorthand—not a claim that Reeves rescued a broken scene or rewrote the film.
What did Reeves suggest?
Fowler said the filmmakers had tried the encounter several ways, weighing whether it should be jokey or serious. Reeves proposed a middle ground: Shadow takes the meeting seriously, but answers Sonic with understated humor.
Fowler recalled the exchange this way: “Who are you?” / “Who am I? Who are you?” / “Why do you look like me?” / “I don’t look like you. You look like me.” He described it as “very simple — funny, but not trying too hard to be funny,” and said everybody liked it. [Arcade News’ republication of a Polygon interview]
What does “fixed” mean here?
It describes a useful creative suggestion that, in Fowler’s telling, helped the scene find its tone. His account does not say the scene was broken, that Reeves alone authored the exchange, or that he rewrote the wider film. The detailed story is attributed to Fowler in an Arcade News republication of Polygon; it should not be mistaken for independent confirmation from the original interview.

Who is Shadow in the film?
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is a 2024 PG action-adventure family film, and Reeves voices Shadow. Paramount’s film listing identifies Reeves in the role. In a separate CBS News interview published December 11, 2024, Fowler said Reeves recognized the need for each of the four voice actors to have a distinct sound and “found his Shadow.” That supports Reeves’ broader contribution to the character’s voice, but CBS does not independently report the specific first-meeting exchange.
