What Lara said about KATSEYE’s sexualization
W Magazine’s interview places Lara’s remarks in the context of online speculation about members’ sexualities and their public coming out. Lara described people “doing that to us, along with fetishizing, and sexualizing us,” and said she did not think it was okay. W Magazine reports the remarks as Lara’s account; they should not be stretched into claims about every member’s private experience.
POPLine’s July 3, 2025 article, updated August 17, 2026 according to its page, likewise attributes the criticism to Lara and points to the W Magazine interview. Its Portuguese headline translates as “Lara, from KATSEYE, complains about the group’s sexualization: ‘I don’t think it’s okay.’” POPLine
Why she said coming out mattered
Lara said that coming out allowed the members to end the conversation and take control of their narrative rather than leaving other people to write it for them. That is her explanation of what the choice meant; the interview does not establish it as the sole reason for anyone’s decision to come out. W Magazine

Personal style is not permission to objectify
In a separate interview published May 29, 2025, Lara described enjoying contrasting styles: “Some days I love to be super feminine and I love to show a bunch of skin and really be super girly. And then some days I love to be more masculine, baggy clothes, and really have my tattoos out.” Teen Vogue
Her account of her own clothing choices is distinct from her criticism of other people’s treatment of the group. Choosing a revealing outfit or a feminine look does not invite or justify fetishization or unwanted sexualization.

Separate later comments about body criticism
Teen Vogue reported on January 7, 2026, that Lara addressed body comments and misinformation in messages to fans, including writing that she loved her body. That was a later, separate episode; the report does not establish that those comments were the same ones discussed in the W Magazine interview. Teen Vogue

In a Weverse Magazine interview about the “Gnarly” era, Lara said the group wanted to showcase its “grit, power, rawness, and even masculinity.” This offers context for the group’s artistic presentation, but it is separate from her criticism of sexualization. Weverse Magazine
