After appearing at Wimbledon in July 2024, Catherine, Princess of Wales, issued a statement supporting the Natural History Museum’s new gardens. The message celebrated the gardens’ invitation to reconnect with nature and protect the natural world; the reports did not describe it as an announcement that she was resuming royal duties.
What was her statement about?
The Independent reported on July 19, 2024, that the Princess of Wales had issued the statement in support of the Natural History Museum’s new gardens. It identified her as the museum’s patron. Vanity Fair also reported that she shared a social-media message backing the gardens after her Wimbledon appearance. The Independent’s report and Vanity Fair’s coverage both date to July 19, 2024.
What did she say about the gardens?
The Independent reproduced this line from the statement: “I am hugely supportive of the Museum’s commitment to create a special space which encourages people of all ages to reconnect with nature and learn more about how we can protect our natural world.”
She also said: “I know the power of nature to support our development and well-being, both by bringing us joy and helping to keep us physically, mentally and spiritually healthy. I hope these gardens will be inspiring and transformative for the thousands of people who visit.”

These are the Princess’s words as quoted in the reports: a message about the gardens’ purpose and her view of nature’s importance. They are not, by themselves, scientific evidence of health outcomes.
Why did the statement follow Wimbledon?
The statement came after her public appearance at Wimbledon. The Independent described the tournament as her second public appearance of 2024 and noted that she attended as patron of the All England Club. Vanity Fair also placed the museum message after the Wimbledon appearance. That timing is the context for the story, not evidence of a wider change to her royal schedule.

Did she announce a return to royal work?
No such announcement is established by the July 2024 reports. They describe a supportive statement about the Natural History Museum gardens; they do not say she was formally resuming royal duties or set out a new work schedule. Nor do these reports establish her health or work status as of October 8, 2026.
