Jensen Ackles said in June 2022 that he had just spent about three and a half hours in a studio “doing Batman.” The report of his appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers did not identify the project, its format, or what became of it. The comment is not a new 2026 announcement.
What did Jensen Ackles say about Batman?
In a report published June 16, 2022, Ackles described a recent studio session during his Late Night with Seth Meyers appearance: “Yep. In fact, I just spent about three and a half hours in the studio yesterday doing, uh, doing Batman.” He added: “That was a big deal. I don’t want to drop that ball.” (The contemporaneous report.)
Those remarks establish that Ackles had been recording Batman-related material. They do not establish the title of the project, whether it was a film, series, game, or another format, or whether it was released or remains in development.
Was the Batman recording the DC project he was developing?
Not according to any confirmed connection in the reports. Ackles also described a separate, unnamed DC property he was developing with Warner Bros. and other partners, saying he was keeping quiet about it because he did not want to jinx it. That development comment does not identify the Batman studio session, and the available coverage does not show that the two remarks referred to the same project. (Report on the separate development remark.)

What Batman roles had Ackles voiced before?
By the time of the 2022 interview, Ackles had voiced Jason Todd, also known as Red Hood, in Batman: Under the Red Hood and Bruce Wayne in Batman: The Long Halloween. Those earlier animated roles explain why a new Batman recording drew attention, but they do not reveal which project he was discussing. (Coverage of Ackles’s earlier Batman roles.)
Is this about The Brave and the Bold?
There is no evidence in the cited coverage linking Ackles’s 2022 session to The Brave and the Bold, the separate DCU Batman project discussed in later reporting. A 2025 report quoted DC Studios co-chair James Gunn saying the studio was not then casting its Batman. That dated statement does not establish the project’s status in 2026, and it does not name Ackles as a cast member. (2025 casting report; 2025 report on Gunn’s comments.)

What remains unknown
- The name and format of the Batman project Ackles recorded for.
- Whether the recording was released, delayed, or abandoned.
- Whether it was connected to Ackles’s separate DC development effort.
- Whether Ackles is involved in any later DCU Batman production.
The June 2022 report reproduces Ackles’s remarks, but does not supply a project title or subsequent update. Without an official identification, assigning the session to a particular Batman production would be speculation.
