The strongest Stand in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure that can be defended from official material is Gold Experience Requiem, Giorno Giovanna’s Stand from Golden Wind (Part 5). That is a best answer for a typical direct fight, not a ranking the franchise has issued. No official cross-part leaderboard exists, and “strongest” only means something once you name the opponent and the conditions.
Why there is no official ranking
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has dozens of Stands across eight parts, and the official material is written around individual battles, not overall power levels. The official anime portal’s Golden Wind episode summaries describe what happens in each fight, but they do not place Stands on a single scale. Any list that claims to be the canon order is a fan ranking presented as fact.
Readers often phrase the question in two ways: “What is the strongest Stand in JoJo?” and “Could Gold Experience Requiem beat every Stand?” The first is a search for an answer. The second is a debate framing, and the honest response is that the evidence supports GER in a specific situation, not in every possible one.
The case for Gold Experience Requiem
GER has the clearest top-tier feat in the official Golden Wind material. In the anime portal’s summary of the Golden Wind climax, Giorno’s Stand evolves after the Arrow pierces it, and Diavolo, the Boss, is left unable to reach even the truth of death, condemned to an endless ending. The summary is a plot description in Japanese, so the paraphrase above is a summary of its meaning, not a translated quotation.

That feat is what makes GER the defensible pick. It is a story-level outcome against the series’ most dangerous antagonist, shown in the official narrative, rather than a claim built from stat comparisons that the series does not provide.
Why matchups decide the answer
A Stand can be decisive against one ability without beating every other Stand. The clearest example in the reference material is Soft & Wet: Go Beyond against Wonder of U.

A fan-maintained JoJo reference says Go Beyond’s bubbles exist outside the laws of the universe, so Wonder of U’s automatic calamity ability cannot ignore them and bypass them. That is a hard counter to one ability. It is not evidence that Go Beyond defeats GER or every other Stand, because the reference only describes that specific interaction.
The lesson applies across the whole franchise: a counter is only as strong as the ability it targets, and “strongest” becomes a question about specific abilities, ranges, and activation conditions.

How to compare two Stands
When you compare candidates, check the same four things for each one, in this order:
- What the ability does and where it stops. Look for demonstrated limits in the story, not just the most dramatic moment.
- Its type. Note whether it is automatic, defensive, offensive, or conditional. An automatic effect can be dangerous in one matchup and useless in another.
- Range, activation, and targeting. A Stand that needs contact, line of sight, or a specific trigger should be judged against opponents who can prevent those conditions.
- Evidence for that exact matchup. A victory against one ability is a matchup result. Do not turn it into a universal win.
Applying this framework keeps the discussion grounded. Gold Experience Requiem wins the official story-level comparison against Diavolo’s end, while Go Beyond wins the specific comparison against Wonder of U. Neither result settles the broader question.

Reading the source arc
If you want to judge GER in context, read or watch Golden Wind itself. VIZ lists Golden Wind, Vol. 9 as a manga volume and describes Giorno’s confrontation with the Boss, which is the arc where the Stand’s evolution happens. Manga availability varies by market and edition, so check the current listing and edition before buying, and treat any retailer as a place to look rather than a verified current offer.
Use the anime and manga as evidence for how the abilities actually behave. They are the only trustworthy basis for judging any Stand against another.
