What is The Invisible Guest about?
Adrián Doria, a successful businessman, is accused of a murder he says he did not commit. To prepare his defense, he works through the night with Virginia Goodman, a prominent witness-preparation expert. Their task is to find reasonable doubt in the case, but a new witness puts their account—and their strategy—under pressure.
The story is built around testimony, competing explanations and the question of which version of events can be trusted. That setup makes the film a mystery as well as a legal thriller; its central tension comes from watching the defense take shape, not from knowing the truth in advance.
Why is the film also called Contratiempo?
Contratiempo is the film’s original Spanish title. The Invisible Guest is its international English title. Spain’s national film catalog and distributor Film Factory Entertainment identify the same film under those titles: a Spanish thriller written and directed by Oriol Paulo, produced in 2016, with a listed runtime of 106 minutes. The ICAA catalog record also lists a Spain box-office gross of €3,679,009.16 and 566,273 admissions; those figures are catalog-record totals, not a worldwide box-office measure.

Film Factory’s film listing describes it as a Spanish-language suspense film and provides its cast and synopsis.
Is Badla the same film?
No. Badla is a separate 2019 Hindi-language thriller listing, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Amrita Singh. Its synopsis also involves a woman accused of killing her lover and a lawyer investigating the truth, but the similar mystery premise is not enough to establish a direct relationship between the films. The available records cited here do not verify whether Badla is an adaptation of The Invisible Guest, so that connection should not be stated as fact on this evidence.
Netflix’s Badla listing identifies its language, cast and premise. Its availability notice applies to the country represented on that page, not every region.
