Spoilers for Peacemaker season 2, episode 8, “Full Nelson.” Salvation is the name Rick Flag Sr. gives an unreachable world he plans to use as a prison for metahumans. The finale sends Chris Smith, Peacemaker, through a portal to that destination. The reveal draws on DC Comics’ Salvation Run, but it does not confirm a full adaptation of the comic’s story.
What happens at the end of Peacemaker season 2?
The finale brings the season’s conflict over the Quantum Unfolding Chambers to a consequential end: Rick Flag Sr. intends to use them to send metahumans away. He calls the destination Salvation, and Peacemaker is taken through the portal and left there. The closing image works as a personal cliffhanger for Chris and as a larger political turn: Flag wants to make another world a place to contain metahumans.

The finale also introduces Checkmate as an important institutional development. Together, Checkmate and Salvation move the story beyond the season’s immediate personal conflicts and toward a wider struggle over how the government treats metahumans. The ending does not establish who else will be sent to Salvation.
What is Salvation Run?
Salvation Run is a DC Comics limited series published in 2007–08. Its broad premise involves sending villains to a distant world because they repeatedly escape Earth’s prisons. James Gunn has described the comic as involving Amanda Waller and Rick Flag sending metahumans to another planet where they cannot get off. DC Connect’s collected-edition catalog describes the story as the one that inspired the Peacemaker season 2 finale.

Gunn said the series is beginning “a part of our larger story in the DCU here in this moment.” That points to the idea’s role in a broader narrative, not a promise that the show will reproduce the comic’s plot. The screen story and comic share a premise; the available statements do not establish that their destinations or events match in every detail.
Is the finale setting up Man of Tomorrow?
Coverage of the finale connects its events to Man of Tomorrow, the announced Superman follow-up. Gunn has indicated that Chris’s situation, the government’s treatment of metahumans, and Rick Flag Sr.’s partnership with Lex Luthor belong to the future story. The supported takeaway is that the finale links Peacemaker to the wider DCU. The film’s exact plot, Salvation’s ultimate nature, and whether it will adapt Salvation Run faithfully are not confirmed.

Should you read the comic after watching?
The collected edition of Salvation Run is a relevant optional read if you want to explore the comic premise behind the finale. Treat it as context and inspiration rather than a guide to what happens next on screen: the finale establishes a shared idea, not a complete adaptation roadmap.
