The official film introduction says the Corps’ destination is “the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle.”
How do Tanjiro and the Corps end up there?
The official introduction places the descent after the Hashira Training, when Muzan appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion and the Corps is plunged into the stronghold. The official character page says Muzan is responsible for the Corps’ descent and identifies Nakime as carrying it out under his orders. These descriptions distinguish Muzan’s responsibility from Nakime’s role in carrying out the descent.
