Harris Faulkner’s “most personal” project was Vietnam: Footsteps of My Father, a limited series for Fox Nation. In it, Faulkner travels to Vietnam to learn more about her late father’s experience as an Army combat pilot during the Vietnam War. The series was reported to premiere on May 16, 2024.
What is Vietnam: Footsteps of My Father about?
The series follows Faulkner as she retraces her father’s wartime experience in Vietnam. Its central thread is both historical and familial: Faulkner wanted to better understand what her father encountered as a combat pilot, and the journey gave her a way to connect with his story after his death. The premise was described in the Yahoo Entertainment listing for the People exclusive.
Why did Faulkner call it especially personal?
In a May 20, 2024 interview on Fox News Radio’s Guy Benson Show, Faulkner said she had recovered four recordings of her father discussing military missions. She explained that she had made the recordings while working on an earlier book and had not expected to keep them. Hearing her father’s voice became particularly meaningful after both of her parents had died.
Faulkner described the series as storytelling aided by her father’s voice. The recordings are part of her account of why the project mattered to her; they are not presented here as independently verified archival material. The Fox News Radio interview transcript includes her explanation.

How does Faulkner’s book relate to the series?
The interview identifies Faulkner’s earlier book as Faith Still Moves Mountains: Miraculous Stories of the Healing Power of Prayer. Faulkner said the recordings were made while she was working on a book years earlier. The book and the Vietnam series are distinct projects: the available account does not describe the series as an adaptation of the book.
