Gordon Ramsay’s Michelin Star documentary series is Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars, an Apple TV docuseries about restaurant teams trying to win, keep, or regain Michelin recognition. Ramsay is an executive producer; chef Jesse Burgess is the host. Season one premiered October 10, 2025, and season two began September 25, 2026.
What is the series about?
Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars follows chefs and restaurant teams during the Michelin Guide season, as they face the possibility of earning, maintaining, or losing a Star. The stories include restaurants pursuing a first Star as well as teams defending or aiming for higher distinctions. Apple says the production had access to Michelin, including on-the-record interviews with anonymous inspectors; their identities are not revealed.
The series also offers a view of the range of restaurants seeking recognition. In an interview with the MICHELIN Guide, Burgess pushed back on the idea that Michelin restaurants must be formal, white-tablecloth establishments, citing a subway-station restaurant, a fried-chicken restaurant, and an approachable neighborhood spot.
Who hosts it, and what is Gordon Ramsay’s role?
Jesse Burgess hosts Knife Edge. Ramsay is an executive producer, and Studio Ramsay Global produces the series for Apple TV. Apple’s May 2025 announcement listed Ramsay, Lisa Edwards, and Morgan Roberts as executive producers. For season two, Apple credits Ramsay, Edwards, Lorraine Charker-Phillips, and Jill Greenwood as executive producers, with James Callum directing.

Apple’s September 17, 2026 announcement describes season two as following restaurants at pivotal moments. Among its featured stories: a chef gives up a Star after opening a new restaurant and tries to win it back in 52 days; a daytime sandwich shop becomes a fine-dining restaurant at night; and a couple seeks recognition while championing Filipino cuisine. The 52 days refers to that restaurant’s announced challenge, not the season’s length.

Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars is an Apple TV series. Apple’s UK series page and US season-one listing provide official programme information, but availability can vary by territory and change over time. Check the Apple TV app or local Apple TV listing for current access where you live.

What to know about the Michelin angle
The series is about the pressure and uncertainty surrounding Michelin recognition, not a guide to the judging process. Burgess told the MICHELIN Guide that inspectors assess “the food on the plate with five main criteria”; that is his description in an interview, rather than a substitute for the Guide’s own explanation of its criteria.
