How was the record made?
John, Carlile and producer-songwriter Andrew Watt devised the concept. The songs draw on both artists, with John and Carlile leading different material; Watt produced and co-wrote, and Bernie Taupin contributed lyrics. John’s official song-by-song account says the ten tracks were recorded at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles between mid-October and early November 2023.
The official announcement describes the title track as a collaboration in which Carlile wrote the lyrics and John supplied the theme, before Watt helped bring the elements together. John characterized the album as a new chapter in his career: “This record was one of the toughest I’ve ever made, but it was also one of the greatest musical experiences of my life.” In the same statement, he called it “the new start for me” and “the start of my career Mark 2.” These are remarks from the official album announcement, not quotations from a Fallon interview.

The available material does not verify that appearance. What is known about the album’s chart result?
On 11 April 2025, Elton John’s official site reported that Who Believes in Angels? reached number one on the UK albums chart, describing it as the artists’ first collaborative number-one album.
