The word “kids” needs some care here. The cited coverage discusses Gen Z, youth and online audiences, but it does not provide representative data on what share of children or teenagers took part, or why. It is more accurate to say the trend was visible and appealing to some young people than to say children as a whole embraced it.
What is the Brat aesthetic?
The album’s signature cover used vivid yellow-green with simple black lettering. Teen Vogue identifies the typeface as ROM, created by design studio Dinamo, and describes related styling as an anti-aesthetic: somewhat messy, unbothered and retro, with links to clubwear. There was no required Brat uniform. The look was fan-made and DIY, rather than a prescribed outfit; a plain white tank top is one documented style cue, not official merchandise or a purchase requirement.
