Archive X: Unexplained Phenomena is a six-part documentary series, and alien abduction is only one of its subjects. AMC’s announced episode slate also covers alleged telepathy, prophetic dreams and precognition, mediumship, near-death experiences, and reported encounters with aliens and demons. The series examines accounts and archival material; its promotional descriptions do not establish that paranormal claims are true.
What does Archive X explore besides alien abduction?
AMC Global Media describes a six-episode series that moves across several kinds of reported unexplained experiences. Its official AMC+ page summarizes the scope as “prophetic dreams, ESP, near-death experiences, alien encounters, and messages from beyond.” The episode descriptions add specific themes, from mediumship to an proposed overlap between aliens and demons.
Here is the announced episode slate. Dates and summaries come from AMC Global Media’s August 25, 2026 announcement, so they describe the distributor’s schedule and framing rather than independently verified findings.
| Announced date | Episode | AMC’s described subject |
|---|---|---|
| October 1, 2026 | “Telepathic Children” | Two non-verbal autistic girls reportedly communicate telepathically with their mothers; the episode also refers to archival material about a researcher of psychic children. |
| October 8, 2026 | “Alien Abduction” | Childhood encounters and messages attributed to an unknown intelligence, alongside archive material about Harvard psychiatrist Dr. John E. Mack’s work with experiencers. |
| October 15, 2026 | “Dark Visions” | Prophetic dreams, precognition, and remote viewing, including a reference to government psychic research. |
| October 22, 2026 | “Speaking with the Dead” | Mediumship, a psychic’s reported experiences, and archival material about a parapsychologist reconsidering mediumship. |
| October 29, 2026 | “Near Death Experience” | Two women’s reported experiences after surviving life-threatening events, including claimed visions and unusual abilities. |
| November 5, 2026 | “Aliens & Demons” | Reported encounters with unseen forces and the episode’s proposed overlap between aliens, demons, and spiritual warfare. |
As of October 7, 2026, the October 1 premiere date has passed; the next date in AMC’s announced schedule is October 8. The schedule alone does not confirm whether an episode has aired in every market or appeared in every platform’s catalog.

How the episodes differ
The range is easier to understand by separating the experiences the series groups together. An episode about alleged mind-to-mind communication is asking a different question from one about contact with the dead or a near-death experience. AMC’s summaries also pair personal accounts with archival context, but they do not provide enough detail to assess the methods or evidentiary strength of each case.
- Mind-to-mind claims: “Telepathic Children” focuses on alleged telepathy, while “Dark Visions” also takes up precognition and remote viewing.
- Contact claims: “Alien Abduction” concerns reported encounters with an unknown intelligence; “Speaking with the Dead” covers mediumship; “Aliens & Demons” considers encounters framed in alien and spiritual terms.
- Experiences around survival: “Near Death Experience” centers on accounts by two women who survived life-threatening events and describes their claimed visions and abilities.
The “Telepathic Children” summary specifically refers to autistic girls. That is the subject of the program’s account, not medical evidence that autism is connected to telepathy or that telepathy has been demonstrated.
What AMC says about the archive
AMC Global Media says the series draws on Rice University’s Center for the Impossible. The company describes the center’s collection as containing more than one million pieces of evidence gathered over nearly a century. Those figures are AMC’s characterization in its August 25, 2026 announcement; they are not an independently audited count established here.
AMC also says the series includes work by Pulitzer Prize-winning Harvard psychiatrist Dr. John E. Mack and bestselling author Whitley Strieber. Their inclusion provides historical and archival context for the program’s subjects, but it does not by itself verify the accounts presented.

What the documentary does—and does not—establish
A documentary can record testimony, present historical materials, and examine why people interpret experiences as paranormal. Those are not the same as independently demonstrating telepathy, mediumship, alien abduction, precognition, or survival of consciousness after death. The distributor’s episode summaries describe what the series investigates and the claims its participants make; they are not scientific findings.
For a viewer, the useful distinction is between an experience someone reports, the interpretation attached to it, and evidence that independently supports that interpretation. AMC’s public descriptions establish the first two as topics of the series, but do not supply enough detail to evaluate the third.

Where AMC announced it would premiere
AMC Global Media named SundanceTV, AMC+, and All Reality as premiere platforms, and AMC+ has an official series page.
