Spoilers for the season 3 finale of What If…?. “What If…What If?” ends Uatu’s immediate conflict with the other Watchers, but it does not announce a fourth season. Disney called season 3 the series’ “Final Season”; the ending leaves room for more multiverse stories without confirming that any are planned.
What happens in the What If…? season 3 finale?
Season 3, episode 8, “What If…What If?”, brings Uatu’s rule-breaking to a reckoning. Other Watchers judge him for intervening in the universes he was supposed only to observe. Captain Carter and Uatu are drawn into the confrontation, and allies including Kahhori, Storm, and Byrdie join the struggle. The crisis turns on the Watchers’ overwhelming power. Captain Carter sacrifices herself to save the others. The surviving group reaches Strange Supreme’s universe, where the Watchers’ power is constrained, and the immediate confrontation is brought to an end.
What happens to Captain Carter?
Captain Carter dies after sacrificing herself to protect her companions during the Watchers’ assault, according to the episode recaps. The moment makes her choice the emotional cost of Uatu’s resistance; it does not establish what might happen to her in any future story.

What does the ending mean for Uatu?
Uatu is no longer simply the detached observer he was at the start of the conflict. By standing with the people whose worlds he once watched from a distance, he changes his relationship to the multiverse. The survivors’ position alongside him suggests that they, too, can take part in observing it.
The closing narration and images of alternate possibilities return to the series’ anthology premise: a different choice can open another version of the MCU. That is a thematic ending, not confirmation that the variants shown will receive new episodes. The recaps offer plot descriptions and interpretations, rather than an official transcript or complete Disney synopsis.

Is season 3 the final season of What If…??
Yes. Disney UK described season 3 as the “Final Season” in its November 11, 2024 announcement. Disney said the eight episodes would begin streaming on December 22, 2024, with one episode released daily for eight days. The finale is the eighth episode, “What If…What If?”
Disney’s season 3 press kit frames the series as a multiverse adventure in which familiar characters’ choices create alternate versions of the MCU. The season features The Watcher, voiced by Jeffrey Wright, as well as characters including Sam Wilson/Captain America, Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Bruce Banner/Hulk, Red Guardian, Peggy Carter/Captain Carter, Agatha Harkness, Shang-Chi, and Storm.

Will What If…? continue?
There is no confirmed fourth season, revival, or specific follow-up in the cited announcements. A December 2024 report on comments by Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum says the show was concluding while leaving room to tell more stories. That indicates conceptual possibility, not a commitment to continue the series or bring back particular characters.

Where can you watch the series?
Disney+ lists What If…? as an animated anthology and science-fiction series that ran from 2021 to 2024 across three seasons. The listing warns that some flashing sequences may affect photosensitive viewers and notes that catalog availability varies by region.
