Iron Man: Demon in an Armor #1 imagines Tony Stark becoming Doctor Doom. Its alternate history begins when college roommates Stark and Victor von Doom conduct an experiment that swaps their bodies—and sends each into the other’s circumstances.
What is the story about?
The main story is titled “What If Tony Stark Had Become Doctor Doom?” In this alternate history, Stark and von Doom are college roommates. A body-switching experiment leaves Stark in Doom’s circumstances and Doom with Stark’s privileged position, reversing the paths associated with the two Marvel characters.
The premise turns on more than a change of identity: each character must live with the other’s opportunities and constraints. The issue asks how those altered circumstances might change who becomes the armored hero and who becomes the feared ruler.
Who created the issue?
Bob Layton and David Michelinie plotted the story, with Michelinie also credited for the script. Graham Nolan penciled the issue, Mark Pennington inked it, and Dave Sharpe handled lettering, according to the Grand Comics Database issue record.

The Grand Comics Database catalogs the comic as a Marvel one-shot. Its release date and cover date are distinct:

| Cover date | February 2011 |
| Main story length | 22 pages |
| Total issue length | 44 pages |

The page counts and $3.99 figure are historical catalog specifications, not a current selling price. The catalog also records a reprint in What If?: Dark Avengers; that entry alone does not establish present availability in any particular format or market.

How can you look for a copy?
The original comic is a physical back issue. Listings may change: Graham Crackers Comics’ listing has been indexed as out of stock, while Midtown Comics has a product page. Neither listing establishes current Amazon stock or the comic’s current market value.
Before buying, check the listing’s exact issue and printing, condition, price, and whether it is the original single issue or a reprint. Availability and condition are seller-specific and can change.
