Blake Lively’s main lawsuit against Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios settled in May 2026 before its scheduled trial. Her sexual-harassment claims had already been dismissed, so they were not decided by a jury. A June 12 court order later awarded attorneys’ fees and costs in a related dispute, while denying treble and punitive damages. The available court record does not establish a further next step after that ruling.
What is the current status of the case?
The central litigation is over by settlement, not by a trial verdict. On May 7, 2026, the parties filed a notice of settlement and joint stipulation dismissing Lively’s action, shortly before the trial scheduled for May 18. Judge Lewis J. Liman later described the settlement as ending both related matters “with one notable exception”: a pending motion under California Civil Code § 47.1 in the Wayfarer action. The judge resolved that motion on June 12. Read the court’s June 12 opinion and order (Document 1440).
Were Blake Lively’s sexual-harassment allegations proven?
No trial established that harassment occurred. Lively alleged sexual harassment and retaliation connected to the filming of It Ends With Us, as well as a smear campaign after she raised concerns. The sexual-harassment claims were dismissed before the settlement. Her retaliation claim had been headed for trial, but the broader action settled before that trial took place. These were allegations, not findings after a jury verdict. The Associated Press’s contemporaneous report, republished by The Washington Post, describes the claims and their procedural status: AP report republished by The Washington Post, June 1, 2026.
What did the June fee ruling decide?
The June order addressed a remaining fee motion in the related Wayfarer action after the Wayfarer parties’ defamation claims against Lively had been dismissed earlier. The court granted attorneys’ fees and costs under California Civil Code § 47.1, but denied treble and punitive damages. The Associated Press reported that the judge found no evidence that Baldoni and Wayfarer had shown malice by Lively for purposes of the statutory fee issue, and that the fees concerned her defense against their dismissed countersuit. Is there a confirmed next legal step?
The June 12 order is the latest court document established here. It does not establish a later appeal, payment, enforcement event, or other pending litigation step. Nor does the reviewed record establish a public settlement amount or show that Lively received money through the settlement. Without a later docket entry, it would be misleading to predict what either side will do next.
