She told them, “Don’t follow me,” and said she had only a few hours to herself. The reporting does not establish that the group were professional paparazzi, and the exchange was not a general message to future photographers.
What happened in Paris
After performing at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Del Rey was in Paris with family when a group began taking photographs and followed them, according to The Independent’s account. Del Rey confronted the group. One person reportedly replied, “You came to me.”

The Independent reported Del Rey saying, “You followed me! With my family! Get away from me. Don’t follow me! Don’t follow me!” She also said she was upset, had only one day in Paris, worked every day, and had four hours to herself. When someone told her not to scream, she answered, “Shut up! Don’t follow people.” These quotations are attributed to Del Rey by the outlet; they are not an independently verified transcript.
Were they confirmed to be paparazzi?
No. The label “paparazzi” overstates what the available reporting establishes. TMZ’s report from June 7, 2024, said it was unclear whether the people were fans, passersby, or photographers, while noting they might include photographers. Their professional status and motives were not confirmed.

What did Del Rey say about the photographs?
After video of the exchange circulated, The Independent reported that Del Rey commented that the people had said they would alter the photographs to make her look bad. That is Del Rey’s allegation as reported by the outlet, not an independently established threat or action.
Was this a message to future photographers?
Not in the form suggested by the original headline. The reported words were directed at the people present: “Don’t follow me” and “Don’t follow people.” Del Rey explained her immediate frustration as being followed while spending limited personal time with family. The coverage does not establish that she issued a broader statement aimed at all future photographers.

How this differs from the Louisiana allegations
This Paris confrontation is separate from Del Rey’s comments in October 2024 about a couple in Louisiana. The Los Angeles Times reported that she alleged the couple flew drones into windows and followed her with a tracker. Those were different allegations in a different place and month; they are not part of the Paris incident.
