A later report identified coronary artery disease as the cause of death; it did not identify the 2012 stroke as the cause.
What happened to Tim Curry’s health?
Curry’s official biography dates his major stroke to July 2012, when he was 67. In an October 2025 interview with The Guardian, Curry discussed the stroke and its effects. The interview reported that his left side was paralyzed. A CBS News interview listing from October 2025 says that he had to relearn how to speak after the stroke. Curry told The Guardian he was grateful that he did not lose his speech.

Asked about the experience, Curry recalled: “The day before I had the stroke, I smoked three packs of Marlboro Reds. I won’t be doing that again!” He made the remark in The Guardian’s October 14, 2025 interview; it was a personal reflection, not medical advice.
Did Tim Curry return to work after the stroke?
Yes. His official biography records screen, reading and convention appearances after the stroke. These show that he continued working, but do not establish that he fully recovered.
