HoopMaps, the pickup-basketball app pitched on Shark Tank, appears to be inactive: a June 2021 account said the app opened to its logo and then closed, and later coverage described its app-store listings as gone or outdated. The Morris brothers left the show without a deal. The available reporting does not establish that the company was formally dissolved.
What was HoopMaps?
Brothers Donte and Dominic Morris founded HoopMaps to help basketball players find nearby pickup games, join them, or create their own. Dominic described a map-based app for locating local runs. Its central promise was self-serve discovery: players could use software to connect with games in their area.
What happened on Shark Tank?
The brothers asked the Sharks for $100,000 in exchange for 5% of the company. Episode recaps report that no Shark invested, so HoopMaps left without a deal. The pitch brought the app national attention, but the founders’ later progress was not dependent on a Shark investment.
Did HoopMaps grow after the show?
In a 2019 founder-authored account, Dominic Morris reported that HoopMaps had more than 90,000 users across 11 countries outside the United States. That is the founder’s figure, not an independently audited user count. He also described media exposure and a cross-promotion with the BIG3 professional basketball league.

Morris’s account also discussed HoopPass, an open-gym concept, and Curated Runs, a shift toward facilitated, scheduled pickup sessions. That model differed from HoopMaps’ original app concept: instead of primarily helping people discover open-ended local games, it involved organizing a particular in-person basketball experience. The historical account does not establish that either service operates today.
Is the HoopMaps app still available?
The clearest dated report of a malfunction came in June 2021, when a Shark Tank Blog author said the app displayed its logo for about 30 seconds and then shut down. This was an observation at that time, not a current test. Later SlashGear coverage described the app-store presence as disappeared or outdated. Taken together, those reports support describing HoopMaps as apparently inactive or defunct, rather than as a working app users can rely on.

Are HoopMaps or its founders still in business?
The available sources do not verify formal corporate dissolution, so an app that appears to have stopped working is not proof that the company was legally closed. They also do not reliably establish what Donte or Dominic Morris is doing now. The substantiated account is historical: the brothers founded HoopMaps, pitched it on Shark Tank, and Dominic later described related basketball concepts.
