There was never just one cast of Whose Line Is It Anyway?: the British original came first, followed by a U.S. version hosted by Drew Carey and a later CW revival hosted by Aisha Tyler. The best-known performers—Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie and Wayne Brady—returned for the revival, while other performers rotated in and out. Here is how the versions and lineups fit together, and what the available biographies establish.
Why “the cast” depends on the version
Whose Line Is It Anyway? began as a British program before becoming a U.S. series. The UK and American editions had different hosts and ensembles, and the U.S. show itself had two major eras. So the answer to what happened to the cast depends on which version a viewer remembers.
This overview focuses on the familiar U.S. lineups while noting the British connection. It does not attempt to account for every guest performer or establish the current activities of everyone who appeared.
The show’s path from the UK to two U.S. eras
Production company Angst Productions traces the format to BBC radio, followed by a ten-year Channel 4 television run hosted by Clive Anderson. It then describes a 219-episode ABC run hosted by Drew Carey and a CW version that began airing in 2013. The 219-episode total is the production company’s figure; its page does not state a publication year. Angst Productions’ show history

The ABC version with Drew Carey

Angst Productions reports that the ABC run lasted 219 episodes. That is a historical total attributed to the production company, not a count of the CW revival. Angst Productions’ show history
The CW revival with Aisha Tyler
The CW version began in 2013 with Aisha Tyler as host and brought back Stiles, Mochrie and Brady as recurring performers. The network describes Tyler prompting spontaneous improv games using suggestions from her and the studio audience. The CW’s series page Angst Productions’ show history

Who returned—and who rotated through
Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie
Stiles and Mochrie connect the British and American versions. Angst Productions says Stiles debuted on the UK program in 1990 before becoming an ABC regular. Its biography describes Mochrie’s path through the British version before he became a regular on the ABC and CW series. These details explain their continuity across editions, but they are not a full account of either performer’s later career. Angst Productions’ show history Angst Productions’ performer biographies
Wayne Brady
Brady was one of the familiar U.S. regulars and returned for the CW era alongside Stiles and Mochrie. Angst Productions also lists him among performers associated with the U.S. version. The available biographical material supports that cast history, but not a comprehensive update on his current work. Angst Productions’ show history

Drew Carey and Aisha Tyler
Carey hosted the ABC version; Tyler hosted the CW revival. They occupy different eras of the U.S. show rather than serving as hosts of one continuous cast lineup. Whose-Line.com’s show overview The CW’s series page
The rotating performers
The format was never limited to the same four people. The ABC overview describes a fourth performer rotating by episode, while Angst Productions lists additional U.S. performers including Keegan-Michael Key, Gary Anthony Williams, Greg Proops, Jeff Davis, Brad Sherwood, Heather Anne Campbell and Jonathan Mangum. Best Value
- A British show in which actors and comedians improvise sketches in various "theatre-sports"-type games, based on audience suggestions. The games might include singing a Hoedown about Tory Politicians, acting out a soap opera as hamsters, becoming bizarre super-heroes, or making up a musical about the life of an audience member. Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: TELEVISION Rating: N
The CW also continued the guest-performer pattern. For example, its listing for a November 1, 2024 episode names Greg Proops alongside Tyler and the returning trio. That episode is one example of the rotating lineup, not evidence that every guest was a regular. The CW’s episode listing

The documented history shows a format that carried familiar performers across national versions and later U.S. eras, while adding other improvisers as guests or rotating players. The biographies available here establish selected career connections—such as Stiles and Mochrie moving from the British program into the U.S. series—but do not establish a current update for every former performer or guest. They also do not establish current live dates or streaming availability. Claims that someone retired, left entertainment or disappeared would go beyond what these sources support.
