Starla is not LaFawnduh
Starla and LaFawnduh are different characters. LaFawnduh is Kip’s online girlfriend, played by Shondrella Avery. Avery spoke about her own role in a 2024 oral history of the film; that account is about LaFawnduh, not Brady or Starla. The Washington Post’s oral history helps confirm the distinction.
In the film, Starla’s short storyline centers on Rex’s insecurity and Uncle Rico’s attempt to sell her a bust-enhancement product. That comic plot is part of the character’s story, not evidence about Brady’s personal life.

What is documented about Carmen Brady after the film?
An official page for Napoleon Dynamite co-star Ellen Dubin identifies Brady as Starla and describes her as a bodybuilder. It also reports that Brady won the overall title at the 1999 NPC Masters National Championships. That is a historical result reported by Dubin’s page, not confirmation of Brady’s current career. Ellen Dubin’s film page contains the identification and result.
Brady’s indexed screen credits include Napoleon Dynamite (2004) and ScreenSlam (2010), according to her IMDb profile. Such listings can be incomplete, and they do not show that these were her only projects or that she stopped working.
