It ended in a no-contest after the wrestlers collided while holding sections of the ring steps near their heads. A report the next day said both shared images of their battle scars, but it did not establish that Sheamus had a diagnosed back injury.
Which Raw match was it?
Sheamus faced Drew McIntyre on the March 8, 2021 episode of WWE Raw in a No Disqualification match. It was their second consecutive week meeting on the show, according to WhatCulture’s March 9 report.
The previous week’s bout was a standard match, which McIntyre won with a Claymore. The March 8 rematch had a different stipulation and finish: it was No Disqualification and ended in a no-contest.
How did the match end?
Near the finish, each wrestler held a portion of the ring steps near his head. They collided, and the match was ruled a no-contest. The following day, WhatCulture reported that both wrestlers had shared images of their battle scars after the bout.

Was Sheamus diagnosed with a back injury?

The marks may be described as bruising or battle scars as reported, but the evidence does not support calling them a confirmed back injury.
WhatCulture’s account is secondary reporting, not an official WWE match record or a medical assessment. It does not provide an attributable statement from Sheamus explaining the marks.
