Yes. In a January 2024 episode of her podcast Let’s Be Clear, Shannen Doherty recalled going through multiple rounds of IVF with her then-husband Kurt Iswarienko and said she had “desperately” wanted a child. She had also considered adoption, though she described that possibility as conditional on her cancer treatment and whether she felt able to give a child enough time.
What Doherty said about wanting a child
On the January 1, 2024 episode of Let’s Be Clear, Doherty spoke with her oncologist, Dr. Lawrence Piro, about her experience trying to have a child. Asked whether she wanted one, she answered, “Desperately.” She said she wanted a child for herself, for her husband and for their marriage. Entertainment Tonight reported her remarks on January 2, 2024.
Doherty recalled undergoing multiple rounds of IVF during her marriage to Iswarienko. She connected that experience in her own thinking to her 2015 breast cancer diagnosis, but the report does not establish that IVF caused her cancer. She said her view came from anecdotal experiences of women she knew; it should be understood as her personal belief, not a medical finding.
Adoption was an option she had considered
In an earlier interview, Doherty said she had looked into adoption and other possibilities. She planned to see how treatment went, what options might become available, and whether she could offer a child enough time. Her comments described a possibility she would consider, not a final decision or an adoption that took place. Entertainment Tonight reported those remarks alongside its account of her IVF experience.

When the conversation took place
The podcast discussion was recorded for the January 1, 2024 episode, months before Doherty died later that year. A posthumous report said she died at 53 in July 2024 after a years-long cancer battle.
