Rick Harrison did not vanish after Pawn Stars went off its regular schedule. The History arrangement ended, putting the series on an indefinite pause, but Harrison remained active at the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas. He also launched a podcast with Austin “Chumlee” Russell, married Angie Polushkin, and is expected to return to television in a revised Pawn Stars format in early 2027.
Several viral videos claimed that Harrison had been arrested and sentenced to life in prison. That story was fabricated. The more accurate account is less sensational: Harrison continued working in the pawn business while the television franchise went through a transition.

Pawn Stars went on hiatus rather than ending permanently
In February 2025, Harrison indicated that Pawn Stars was no longer under contract with the History channel. He described the program as being on an indefinite pause while the production company and network considered what should happen next, referring to the possible future as “Pawn Stars 2.0.”
That distinction matters. There was no confirmed announcement that Harrison had retired, that the shop had closed, or that the series had been canceled outright. A later announcement said that new episodes were planned for early 2027, with Rick Harrison and Chumlee as the featured stars.

Corey Harrison, Rick’s son and a long-standing member of the original cast, is not expected to return as an original cast member in the new version. The change suggests that the program may continue with a different lineup and format rather than simply resuming exactly where the previous run stopped.
He is still connected to Gold & Silver Pawn
Harrison remains associated with the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, the business that provided the setting for the television series. The shop’s official website continues to present Rick as part of its public identity and offers information about pawning or selling items, merchandise, collectibles, and visits.
The business is not just a television prop. The shop describes itself as a Las Vegas operation with more than 30 years of history and continues to serve customers outside the show’s production schedule. Its website has also advertised paid meet-and-greets with Harrison, including bookings listed for August and September 2026.
That ongoing connection is the clearest answer to what happened to him: he continued operating within the business that made him famous, even while the television series was between contracts.

Harrison and Chumlee started Pawn After Dark
The television hiatus gave Harrison and Chumlee another way to speak to viewers. In 2025, they began Pawn After Dark, a podcast recorded around the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop.
According to its Apple Podcasts listing, the show was created by Shiny Object Productions and had 23 episodes listed during 2025. Its subjects include collecting, unusual pawn-shop stories, guests, and experiences connected with Pawn Stars. It functions as a behind-the-scenes outlet rather than a direct replacement for the television program.
The podcast also helped maintain the familiar Harrison–Chumlee partnership while the future of the History series was being worked out.
His son Adam Harrison died in 2024
One of the most significant events in Rick Harrison’s personal life after the show’s hiatus was the death of his son Adam Harrison. Adam died in Las Vegas on January 19, 2024, at the age of 39.

The family initially described the death as a suspected drug overdose. Later reporting identified the cause as an accidental overdose involving fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity. Adam was Rick Harrison’s son, but he was not a regular cast member of Pawn Stars.
This loss is sometimes confused with the death of Rick’s father, Richard “The Old Man” Harrison, who died in June 2018. The elder Harrison was a major Pawn Stars personality and a co-founder of the family business; Adam was not one of the show’s principal on-screen figures.
He married Angie Polushkin in 2026
Harrison married Angie Polushkin in Las Vegas on January 3, 2026. The ceremony took place at the Little White Wedding Chapel, while the reception was held at Rick’s Rollin Smoke BBQ at Pawn Plaza, close to the pawn shop.
The couple had announced their engagement in March 2025. The wedding was another indication that Harrison remained publicly active rather than withdrawing from public life after the television series paused.

The life-prison story was a hoax
In March and April 2025, viral videos circulated claims that Harrison had been arrested, accused of trafficking looted artifacts, and sentenced to life in prison. Those claims had no credible foundation.
There was no verifiable court case, jurisdiction, judge, arrest record, or authoritative law-enforcement announcement supporting the story. Fact-checkers also noted that Harrison appeared on his podcast and posted on social media after the alleged imprisonment, which directly contradicted the videos.
The videos appear to have used the familiar formula of sensational narration, dramatic thumbnails, and invented legal details to attract views. They should not be treated as documentary evidence. Unless a claim about an arrest or conviction can be tied to an identifiable court or official law-enforcement source, it should not be repeated as fact.
