Lauren Curtis said in December 2023 that her partner, Reece Daniel, had lived with liver disease for about a decade and would eventually need a transplant. PerthNow later reported that Daniel received a liver transplant in July 2025, after 11 years living with the illness. The original disclosure was an update at the time, not the latest reported development.
What Lauren Curtis said in December 2023
PerthNow reported on 30 December 2023 that Curtis had discussed Daniel’s liver disease in her Instagram Stories. She said he had been living with the condition for about ten years, that it had worsened, and that he would eventually need a liver transplant. Curtis also described jaundice and a serious liver infection earlier that year. Those details are her account as reported by PerthNow, not an independently verified medical history.
Curtis’s comments followed questions about Daniel’s appearance. PerthNow quoted her saying, “He is sick, unfortunately.” At that point, she did not give a specific transplant date.
The June 2024 update
In a follow-up Instagram Q&A reported by PerthNow on 10 June 2024, Curtis said Daniel’s liver disease was worsening and that he had less energy for exercise. She also said he had ulcerative colitis and that the two conditions had been diagnosed at the same time.

Describing the uncertainty around his condition then, Curtis said: “He’s in a limbo period where he’s not sick enough for a liver transplant, but he’s sick enough that it’s likely around the corner.” That was her description in June 2024, not a timetable for when surgery would take place.

The public account traces a change from Curtis’s 2023 disclosure, through her 2024 description of worsening illness, to the transplant announcement reported in 2025. The news coverage cited here recounts Curtis’s public statements; it does not provide medical records or detailed information about Daniel’s transplant or recovery. It therefore does not establish his current clinical status.
