Laura Woods was taken ill during ITV4’s pre-match coverage of England’s women’s friendly against Ghana on 2 December 2025. She fell forward pitchside at St Mary’s Stadium, and pundits Ian Wright and Anita Asante caught her. Woods later said she was OK; the suggestion that she had a virus was a tentative view relayed by paramedics, not a confirmed diagnosis.

What happened to Laura Woods on live TV?

Woods was presenting ITV4’s pre-match coverage in Southampton when she fell forward. Wright and Asante caught her, and ITV cut away from the broadcast. When coverage returned, presenter Katie Shanahan had taken over. ITV reported that Shanahan told viewers Woods had been taken ill and was in good hands. ITV News reported the incident, as did BBC Sport.

Is Laura Woods OK?

Woods later said she was OK. In an Instagram statement reproduced by ITV News, she wrote: “Gosh that was a bit weird. Sorry to worry everyone, I’m ok, the wonderful paramedics at Saints have said it’s probably just a virus, just need a bit of rest and hydration.”

That was Woods’s account of what paramedics thought might be the cause. The reporting does not establish a formal medical statement or confirmed diagnosis, so it is not accurate to state as fact that she fainted or had a virus.
