What happened to Emily Maynard and Jef Holm?
Maynard accepted Holm’s proposal at the end of Season 8 in 2012. Their engagement did not last: ABC News reported on October 17, 2012, that the two had ended it. Maynard described the decision as difficult and heartbreaking, saying they were at different points in their lives; Holm said they had tried hard to make the relationship work. ABC News reported their statements at the time.
Holm’s brother made an infidelity allegation, which ABC News also reported. That allegation is not established as fact, and the couple’s public statements did not identify it as the reason for their split.
Who did Emily Maynard marry?
Maynard married Tyler Johnson in June 2014. They had met at church, according to a later interview. Their wedding was planned as a surprise gathering framed as an engagement party. How did Maynard’s family grow after the show?
The available reports document the family at specific points in time, rather than providing a current 2026 count:
- March 2016: ABC News reported that Maynard and Johnson had a son, Jennings, and that she was expecting another child. ABC News also covered her memoir in that report.

What did Emily Maynard do after The Bachelorette?
In 2016, Maynard published I Said Yes: My Story of Heartbreak, Redemption and True Love, a memoir about her personal experiences. In an ABC News interview, she reflected that she would not change having appeared on the shows because she might not otherwise have met Johnson. The interview discusses the book and her life at the time.
Looking back on her season, Bachelor Nation quoted Maynard saying she wanted a family, a husband, and to be a wife. That was her stated hope in 2012—not a guarantee of what would happen. The retrospective revisits her Season 8 story.
