Drive Suits did not become a mass-market consumer product. Creator Drew Baumier accepted Kevin O’Leary’s on-air offer of $150,000 for 30%, conditional on pursuing a toy-company partnership, but later coverage reports that the deal did not close. The suits instead became part of an event-performance and costume-booking business associated with Robots and Cars Entertainment. Whether that company is operating today is not reliably established by the available reports.
What were Drive Suits?
Drive Suits were motorized costumes designed to transform the wearer into a vehicle-like form. Baumier pitched a prototype on Shark Tank; the pitch-era accounts do not establish that he had begun manufacturing a retail product. Shark Tank Blog describes the suits as capable of moving at about 10 miles per hour, but that is a reported product detail, not an independently verified performance test. The same recap describes Baumier entertaining crowds and birthday parties in the costumes.
Looper reports that Baumier appeared in Season 4 in November 2012 and sought $150,000. Its account says he offered 20% equity, while Shark Tank Blog reports an initial ask of 40%. Because the recaps conflict on that detail, the initial equity percentage is uncertain.
Did Drive Suits get a deal on Shark Tank?
Baumier accepted O’Leary’s offer of $150,000 for 30% on air. The offer was conditional on pursuing a toy-company partnership, so the televised agreement was not proof that the investment had been completed. Shark Tank Blog and Looper both report that the deal failed during due diligence. Shark Tank Blog suggests toy companies may not have been interested, but presents that explanation as uncertain. Looper likewise says the toy-company route apparently did not happen.

What happened to Drive Suits after the show?
Post-show accounts describe Baumier moving toward event entertainment rather than broad consumer sales. Performers wore the suits at parties and events, and the business was renamed or reorganized as Robots and Cars Entertainment, Inc. Looper reported in August 2022 that the company had launched in 2016 and was available for bookings. Shark Tank Blog says Baumier continued event entertainment and reports that the company was out of business by December 2022.
Are Drive Suits still in business?
The company’s current operating status is unresolved. The reports conflict: Shark Tank Blog states that Robots and Cars Entertainment was out of business by December 2022, while Gazette Review’s article, dated October 18, 2022, has a “2026 Update” heading and describes later activity based on the company website. That heading is not evidence of a 2026 review, and the available reporting does not establish whether the business remains active today. A reader should not treat the old booking description as confirmation that bookings are currently available.

Why the two Sharks’ paths mattered
The pitch presented two different strategies, not two completed business outcomes. Mark Cuban’s approach was to keep doing events while developing the product; O’Leary’s offer focused on seeking a toy-company partnership. Baumier chose O’Leary’s offer on air, but that deal reportedly did not close. The later event-service direction resembles the performance side of the pitch, although the reports do not establish that Cuban’s proposal caused the company’s subsequent course.

What the available record establishes
- Drive Suits began as Baumier’s motorized transforming-costume concept, presented as a prototype rather than an established retail product.
- Baumier accepted O’Leary’s $150,000-for-30% offer on air, conditional on pursuing a toy-company partnership.
- Later coverage reports that the proposed investment failed during due diligence; there is no reliable basis in these accounts for saying O’Leary completed the investment.
- Post-show coverage describes event performances and costume bookings, not verified mass-market sales.
- Reports do not provide a reliable, consistent answer about whether Robots and Cars Entertainment still operates.
