In a January 2026 update, he was home recovering, though his lungs were reportedly permanently damaged and he remained in heart failure. The available reporting does not verify his exact condition as of October 8, 2026.
What happened to Brandon Buckingham?
Buckingham, a YouTube creator, described a sudden and serious illness in a series of posts in November 2025. On November 10, he posted from a hospital bed that he had been discharged and that his condition seemed stabilized. On November 19, he said doctors thought he might have tuberculosis, septic pneumonia and/or liver failure. Those were possibilities he reported at the time, not confirmed diagnoses.
On November 21, Buckingham said he was in the ICU and described failure affecting four organ systems. In a post reported the following day, he wrote: “In the ICU, my heart is failing, my lungs are failing, my liver and kidneys are failing. Things are not looking good my friends. I love you guys.” This was his account of his condition then, not a statement of his present health. Just Jared’s November 22 report linked to his posts.
What did he say caused the organ failure?
In a November 26 interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Buckingham said pneumonia had progressed to sepsis. He told the paper that he was initially diagnosed with systolic heart failure, kidney failure and liver failure, and that doctors later attributed his heart failure to coxsackievirus. His November 19 post had listed tuberculosis and other conditions as possible explanations; it should not be treated as confirmation that he had tuberculosis.
