Andrew Dice Clay said he was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy in 2021. He continued performing stand-up, acknowledged the visible effects on his face with audiences, and said he was improving at the time. The available accounts do not establish his current health status.
What Clay said happened
In interviews published in August 2021, Clay said the diagnosis had come earlier that year. He described the first day as affecting his speech, then said he kept working. These details are his own account, not an independent medical assessment.

In an interview published August 10, 2021, the San Antonio Current quoted Clay saying, “I’ve already done eight shows with no problems.” In a separate interview published August 24, 2021, with Hearst Connecticut Media, he said he had performed 15 shows since the diagnosis and recalled undergoing an MRI.
How he addressed the visible effects
Clay said the facial effects were noticeable and that he spoke to audiences about them, sometimes using humor. In a 2021 interview with the San Antonio Express-News, he said: “It’s a temporary thing. I’m good with it. I don’t really care.” His comments describe how he approached performing; they should not be read as a medical prognosis.

What he reported about his recovery
In the August 24, 2021 interview, Clay said, “With each day, it’s getting better.” That is a report about how he felt then. The sources available here do not confirm whether he later fully recovered or what his health is now.
His career after the diagnosis
Clay’s official biography describes later comedy and acting work and says he continued touring. It provides career context, not a medical update, so his continued work cannot establish his present health or the course of his recovery.
