Amanza Smith’s former husband, Ralph Brown, disappeared from her and their children’s lives in 2019. In a November 2025 report, Smith said authorities had confirmed Brown was alive and had found an address for him, so he was no longer considered a missing person. That update does not establish that he has contacted Smith or their children.
Is Ralph Brown still missing?
According to The Tab’s report of Smith’s podcast appearance in November 2025, authorities told her Brown was alive and had located a physical address for him. Smith said he was no longer “deemed as a missing person.” The report does not independently verify the police status or disclose the address, and it does not say Brown resumed contact with his family. When did Brown disappear from Smith’s life?
Smith and Brown married in 2010 and divorced in 2012. They share two children, Noah and Braker. Smith said Brown had been an involved father, and that they shared custody on an alternating-week basis before he stopped being part of their lives. Us Weekly Entertainment Tonight
Smith said Brown dropped the children off at school in Los Angeles on August 26, 2019, and did not return to their lives afterward. She said he emailed her on September 1, writing that his situation was not good, he could not financially care for the children, and it was not safe for them to be with him. That description of the email comes from Smith; the reporting does not reproduce the message. Us Weekly

What happened in the custody case?
On September 29, 2021, Smith was awarded sole legal and physical custody of the children. Us Weekly reported that Brown would have no visitation until he provided required information, including an updated contact address. The custody ruling established Smith’s authority to make decisions for the children; it did not establish where Brown was. Us Weekly
After the decision, Smith told Us Weekly: “We will never be ‘over’ the absence of their father, but hopefully we can move forward in a more positive way now that we are unhindered by the legal obstacles that prevented me from making the decisions that are best for us as a family of three.” Us Weekly

Why did Brown leave?
The available accounts do not establish why Brown stopped being in contact with Smith and the children. In a November 2019 court declaration quoted by Us Weekly, Brown described physical pain and mental struggles after his football career ended, writing: “In 2010, my NFL career ended and my mental and physical pain from playing football for 21 years of my life was already causing me great pain.” This is a reported court declaration, not an independent medical evaluation. Us Weekly
Smith has publicly wondered whether Brown experienced a mental-health crisis or CTE, but Entertainment Tonight identified those as her theories, not confirmed explanations. The reporting reviewed here does not establish a diagnosis, foul play, or a cause for his absence, and it does not include Brown’s account of the 2025 update. Entertainment Tonight Us Weekly
