Prosecutors allege that Ivanna Lisette Ortiz fired shots at Rihanna’s home in Beverly Crest, Los Angeles, on March 8, 2026. Ortiz has pleaded not guilty to 14 felony counts and is presumed innocent. No one was struck by gunfire, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for October 29, 2026.
What happened at Rihanna’s home?
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office says the alleged shooting took place at about 1:20 p.m. on March 8, 2026, at a home in Beverly Crest, in the 9500 block of Heather Road. “Beverly Hills” has appeared in broad media descriptions, but Beverly Crest is the location given in the official account. The Associated Press reported that authorities allege at least 20 rounds were fired toward the property and a neighboring house. Citing a police report, AP said bullets went through an Airstream trailer and hit a nursery wall. AP also reported that Rihanna told investigators she “suddenly heard approximately ten loud sounds like something banging on metal” and pulled A$AP Rocky out of bed and onto the ground. Those details are attributed accounts, not findings established at trial. Associated Press
Who was taken into custody?
Prosecutors identify the accused as Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 36, of Orlando, Florida. Authorities arrested her in Sherman Oaks after the alleged shooting. What charges does Ortiz face?
A grand jury returned the indictment on June 18, and it was unsealed on September 30, 2026, according to the DA’s Office. It alleges 14 felony counts:
- One count of attempted murder.
- Ten counts of assault with an assault weapon.
- Three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper.
Ortiz pleaded not guilty. Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott told AP, “This is a person who wanted to kill Rihanna,” and said, “Everyone else was collateral damage.” That is a prosecutor’s characterization of the alleged intent, not an adjudicated fact. When is the next court hearing?
As of October 8, 2026, the DA’s Office said Ortiz was scheduled to return to court on October 29 for a pretrial hearing. The date is a scheduled court appearance and may change. The case number listed by the DA is 26CJCF03759, and the department says the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division’s investigation remains ongoing. The AP reported that proceedings had been delayed for a psychiatric evaluation and that a judge ruled Ortiz competent to stand trial shortly before the indictment became public. District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said, “Every person deserves to feel safe in and around their home.” The charges remain allegations: Ortiz is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
