It stopped being the featured shop on MTV’s show once Galpin Auto Sports took over the later editions, then went on to its own television series and kept operating as a custom-car business. The company still runs a shop in Burbank, California, and its official materials describe the same core work it was known for: wraps, wheels, full builds, branded merchandise, and premium vehicle storage.
How WCC’s role on Pimp My Ride ended
WCC was founded by Ryan Friedlinghaus in 1993, according to the company’s own history. The shop became nationally known through Pimp My Ride in 2004, when it was featured on the first four seasons of the MTV series.
A 2007 report says Galpin Auto Sports replaced WCC for the fifth and sixth editions. The same report ties that change to two developments: WCC moving its operation to Corona, California, and the launch of its own TLC series, Street Customs. The reporting establishes that these events happened around the same time. It does not establish why MTV made the change, and no motive has been documented, so the transition should be described as a handover, not as a dispute or a falling-out.
One detail to handle with care: the company’s official FAQ says Pimp My Ride “finished in 2004.” That conflicts with the later seasons covered above, so that date should not be used as the show’s end point.

What WCC did next on television
Street Customs on TLC
After leaving the MTV show, WCC fronted its own series, Street Customs, on TLC. This is the programme the 2007 report links to the change in shops, and it is the first sign that the WCC name was being sold as a brand in its own right rather than as a segment inside another show.
Inside West Coast Customs
Company press releases document a later series, Inside West Coast Customs, which first aired on Discovery’s HD Theater. Later episodes appeared on Velocity. Press releases establish the programming history, but they do not independently measure how many people watched.

Is West Coast Customs still in business?
Yes, according to the company’s current official pages. The headquarters is listed at 2101 W. Empire Avenue, Burbank, California. The About page describes a facility of 60,000 square feet and says the shop takes on everything from smaller jobs such as wraps and wheels to large custom builds.
Current materials also promote branded apparel, brand-sponsored builds, events, and premium storage for exotic and classic vehicles. These are the company’s own descriptions of its services, not independently verified accounts of its volume or output.

- Use the inquiry form. The FAQ recommends contacting the company through its inquiry form for vehicle projects rather than arriving in person.
- Walk-ins are not accepted. The FAQ says the shop does not take walk-in visitors.
- Ordinary cars are welcome. The company says it works on non-celebrity vehicles, not only on the high-profile cars seen on television.
- Overseas jobs are accepted. According to the FAQ, the shop takes work from outside the United States.
- Sponsorships are not accepted. The FAQ states this policy directly.
These are company-stated policies and can change, so check the current FAQ before sending a request.

What the evidence does and does not establish
- Company descriptions are self-reported. The current location, services, and policies come from WCC’s own pages. They are reliable as statements of what the company says it does, but they are not independent audits.
- No audience, revenue, or customer numbers are available. Neither the television ratings nor the size of the business has been independently published in the sources used for this article, so claims about popularity or commercial success should be treated with caution.
- The reason for the change is undocumented. The 2007 report establishes the sequence of events. Beyond that, no cause for WCC’s exit from Pimp My Ride has been established.
- The FAQ’s end date is unreliable. The “finished in 2004” statement conflicts with the show’s later seasons, as noted above.
Put together, the record shows a shop that moved from being the featured garage on an MTV series, to hosting its own programmes on cable and streaming, to operating a larger Burbank facility with an inquiry-based intake process. That is the answer to what happened to West Coast Customs after Pimp My Ride.
