In a written statement reproduced by news reports, he traced their partnership from the Second City stage and SCTV to films with Christopher Guest and Schitt’s Creek, and said their friendship mattered most.
What did Eugene Levy say about Catherine O’Hara?
Levy opened his tribute: “Words seem inadequate to express the loss I feel today.” He wrote that he had the honor of knowing and working with O’Hara for over fifty years, and recalled their shared history across stage, television and film. He said he cherished their working relationship, “but most of all our friendship,” and concluded that he would miss her.
The statement was reproduced in the Associated Press tribute roundup on January 30, 2026, and reported by RTÉ the following day. Those reports describe a written statement; they do not establish that Levy gave an on-camera interview or identify where he originally posted it.
How long did Levy and O’Hara work together?
By Levy’s account, their relationship spanned more than fifty years. He recalled beginning together on the Second City stage, then working on SCTV, making films with Christopher Guest, and spending six years on Schitt’s Creek, where they played spouses. Their partnership therefore crossed live comedy, television and film rather than belonging to just one production.
