Errol Musk criticized his son Elon’s parenting and dismissed transgender family members during an interview with host Joshua Radin on the Wide Awake Podcast, according to a February 15, 2025 report by Futurism. The report said Errol claimed that children in the Musk family had “declared themselves to be women,” then called it “bullshit.” One part of his claim—about a child of Kimbal Musk—could not be independently verified by Futurism.
What did Elon Musk’s dad say about his transgender grandchildren?
Futurism reported that Errol Musk told Wide Awake Podcast host Joshua Radin that Elon’s children had individual nannies and that Elon “didn’t spend enough time with them.” Errol then said: “The two eldest boys — Kimbal’s eldest son, and Elon’s eldest son — have declared themselves to be women.” He added, “It’s bullshit.”
Those are Errol’s statements, not independent findings about the family. Futurism reported that Elon’s daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, came out as a trans woman in 2022. The outlet said it could not independently verify Errol’s claim about a child of Kimbal Musk; that claim should not be treated as established fact, and there is no basis here to identify the person. Futurism’s report is the source for the quoted remarks and its verification caveat.
What did Errol Musk say about Elon’s parenting?
Errol criticized Elon’s time with his children and described the family’s nanny arrangements. Global News, which summarized the same podcast episode on February 19, 2025, also reported Errol’s criticism that Elon “hasn’t been a good dad.” The outlets report these comments as Errol’s account, not as independently established details of the family’s care arrangements.

Global News reported that Errol blamed a nanny for the death of Elon and Justine Wilson’s first child, Nevada. The outlet said Nevada died in 2002 at 10 weeks old from sudden infant death syndrome. The reporting does not establish that nanny care caused the death; Errol’s allegation is not evidence of such a connection.
How does Vivian Wilson describe her relationship with her father?
In a separate public dispute in July 2024, Vivian Wilson contested Elon Musk’s account of her childhood. The Washington Post reported that Wilson said her father was not present and, when he was, “relentlessly harassed” her for her “femininity and queerness.” Those are Wilson’s words about her own experience; they are distinct from Errol’s podcast remarks and from Elon Musk’s statements.
