The outlet characterized the remark as misgendering Wilson. “Blasts” is Futurism’s headline framing, not a word Musk used in the quoted response.
What did Vivian Wilson post after the 2024 election?
Futurism reported that Wilson wrote on Threads that she did not see a future for herself in the United States after Trump’s victory. The outlet quoted her post: “I’ve thought this for a while, but yesterday confirmed it for me. I don’t see my future being in the United States. Even if [Trump is] only in office for four years, even if the anti-trans regulations magically don’t happen, the people who willingly voted this in are not going anywhere anytime soon.”
The bracketed words “[Trump is]” are a clarification in Futurism’s quotation. The original Threads post could not be independently accessed for this account, so the wording here is attributed to Futurism’s report.
What did Elon Musk say?
Futurism reported that Musk replied, “The woke mind virus killed my son.” The outlet described the response as misgendering Wilson, who is transgender. Wilson is referred to here by her name and pronouns.

Earlier context: Musk’s remarks about the “woke mind virus”
In July 2024, Musk spoke with Jordan Peterson in an interview published by The Daily Wire. Futurism, reporting on Musk’s comments about Wilson, quoted him as saying: “I vowed to destroy the woke mind virus after that. And we’re making some progress.” The Daily Wire’s official episode page identifies the interview as “Dr. Peterson x Elon Musk,” but the reviewed page did not provide a transcript.

How to read the headline
“Blasts” is the language Futurism chose for its November 7, 2024 headline. The direct quotation attributed to Musk is “The woke mind virus killed my son.” Keeping those separate distinguishes a publication’s characterization of the exchange from the words it reported.
The exchange and Wilson’s post are reported here through Futurism because the original Threads posts were inaccessible. That qualification does not change the central reported chronology, but it means the quoted social-media wording should not be presented as independently checked against the posts themselves.
