Donald Trump praised Jake Paul after Anthony Joshua knocked him out in their Miami heavyweight bout, calling Paul brave and Joshua a legitimate fighter. Trump later said he watched the fight aboard Air Force One and joked that Paul’s chin was the one thing that took a hit.
How Anthony Joshua beat Jake Paul
Joshua stopped Paul at 1:31 of the sixth round at Miami’s Kaseya Center, according to the Associated Press. Paul was counted out after being knocked down four times. AP later reported that Paul’s jaw was broken in two places.
The bout was a professional heavyweight fight streamed live globally by Netflix, which described Joshua flooring Paul multiple times before the referee stopped the contest in round six. Netflix’s account was published December 22, 2025; it does not establish whether a replay is currently available. Netflix’s coverage of the fight provides its event recap.
AP reported the fighters’ bout weights as 216 pounds for Paul and 243 pounds for Joshua, and a capacity crowd of 19,600 at the Kaseya Center. Those figures describe this event, not a general comparison of the fighters.

Trump’s immediate Truth Social reaction
AS USA reported on December 22, 2025, that Trump praised Paul in a Truth Social post after the fight, highlighting his courage, stamina and effort against a larger opponent. The outlet presents the message in Spanish translation, so its wording should not be treated as a verified English transcript of Trump’s post. AS USA’s report covers that immediate reaction.

I watched you, and I thought you were very brave. He’s a pretty big guy, you know, he’s good. And he’s legit, look, he’s a legitimate fighter. And, uh, I thought you were great.
