Diddy did not confirm the allegation that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith tried to pursue Jennifer Lopez for a threesome. Asked about it by Jimmy Kimmel in 2023, he joked about the question and said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” The story traces to an account by Gene Deal, described in reports as Diddy’s former security guard, and remains unverified.
What Diddy said when Jimmy Kimmel asked
During a 2023 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel asked Diddy about an internet claim that Will and Jada had tried to pick up Lopez for a threesome while she was dating Diddy, and that Diddy was prepared to fight Will. Entertainment Tonight quoted Kimmel’s question and reported Diddy’s response.
Diddy paused, then said, “This show has gotten crazier since the last time I was here.” He followed with, “No, you really heard that?” and ended, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Jimmy, I thought we was friends.” Those remarks are a joke and a non-confirmatory response—not an affirmation that the alleged encounter occurred.
Where the allegation came from
Entertainment Tonight and Hot 97 trace the story to Gene Deal, whom both describe as Diddy’s former security guard or bodyguard. In an interview with The Art of Dialogue, Deal said Diddy told him that Will and Jada were trying to “scoop up” Lopez. Deal also recalled Diddy telling him to stay close at a 1990s party in case he needed to “snuff” Will. These are details attributed to Deal, not independently verified accounts of what happened.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The reports do not establish a precise date for the alleged interaction. Entertainment Tonight says Diddy and Lopez began dating in September 1999 and separated in February 2001; that relationship timeline provides context, but it does not prove when—or whether—the alleged proposition took place.
What is and is not established
| Point | What the reports establish |
|---|---|
| Source of the claim | Deal’s account, as reported by Entertainment Tonight and Hot 97; neither report independently verifies it. |
| Diddy’s response | He made a joke and said he did not know what Kimmel was talking about; he did not confirm the allegation. |
| Other named participants’ response | Hot 97 reported on Oct. 30, 2023, that Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and Jennifer Lopez had not confirmed or denied Deal’s story at that time. That report is time-bounded and does not establish whether they commented later. |
Accordingly, the accurate description is that Deal made an unverified allegation and Diddy was asked about it on television. The exchange’s humor and the attention it attracted do not amount to corroboration.
