Dick Van Dyke said he was aware he “could go any day now” but was not afraid of dying in Coldplay’s “All My Love” music video. The comments appeared in the video released shortly before his 99th birthday in December 2024; they were not part of a medical interview or a statement about a diagnosis.
What Dick Van Dyke said
In a published transcription of the video, The Independent quoted Van Dyke saying: “I’m acutely aware that I could go any day now,” followed by, “but I don’t know why it doesn’t concern me. I’m not afraid of it. I have the feeling that I’m gonna be alright.”
He acknowledged his mortality while describing his lack of fear. The wording above follows The Independent’s transcription; other reports rendered parts of his remarks differently.
Where the comments came from
Van Dyke made the remarks in Coldplay’s “All My Love” video, a song from the band’s album Moon Music. Reports described the video as filmed at his Malibu home and as combining personal reflections with scenes involving his family and his wife, Arlene Silver, as well as footage connected to his career.
