His comments describe a future preference—not an announcement that he is retiring now.
What does Darby Allin want to do after wrestling?
In an appearance on the My Mom’s Basement podcast, Allin said he wanted to leave the wrestling world behind when his career was over. F4WOnline quoted him on 14 October 2025: “I honestly just want to disappear from the world of wrestling [when his career is over].”
He elaborated that he wanted “to just live, like, a personal and private life. Make movies and just disappear.” In context, “disappear” means withdrawing from wrestling and public attention; the comments are not evidence of a literal disappearance or a specific retirement date.
Does this mean he is retiring from AEW?
No retirement announcement is established by those remarks. Allin was talking about what he might want after his in-ring career ends, rather than saying that he was leaving wrestling at the time. In an interview published by Forbes on 24 August 2026, he discussed his ongoing AEW career, called 2026 the best year of his career and said, “Because my life doesn’t begin and end with wrestling.” That later perspective reinforces the distinction between wrestling being part of his life and it being all of his life.

Has Allin talked about interests beyond wrestling before?
Yes. In a 2 March 2021 interview with The Independent, Allin named film-making and fashion among his interests, saying, “I love art, whether it be film-making, fashion, anything.” He also said he did not want to pigeonhole himself into wrestling. The earlier comments show that creative interests beyond wrestling predate his 2025 remarks, though they are not the same as his later wish for a private life.
Does he plan to become a wrestling trainer?
Allin said he enjoys coaching in some circumstances, but doubted he had the patience for a long-term trainer role. F4WOnline reported that he had gained coaching experience training Steven Borden, Sting’s son. Allin cited the challenge of dealing with egos as one reason he was unsure he would want to coach over the long term.
