Mattel’s remote-control version identifies its movie-inspired vehicle as a 1956 Corvette Stingray; that model name applies to the RC toy, not necessarily to the film car as a precisely specified production vehicle.
Why Barbie’s Corvette looks like a toy
The film’s car is designed to belong to Barbie Land, not to read as an ordinary production-car depiction. TIME reported on June 27, 2023, that the life-size Corvette was carefully created as a model and scaled up using a mathematical formula to help make Barbie Land look “toyetic.” It was also made a little small for Margot Robbie, echoing the way a doll’s convertible is too small for Barbie. TIME’s production-design reporting explains the visual logic behind the car’s toy-like proportions.
What “pink, pink, pink, and pink” means
The repeated pink in the title is emphasis, not a claim that the film specifies four separate shades. Mattel calls its official collectible convertible “bubblegum-pink” and describes a pink interior with white seat trim, whitewall tires, chrome rims, and metallic rose-gold dashboard accents. Mattel’s product listing puts it this way: “Inspired by the main character’s car in the film, this bubblegum-pink beauty looks like it cruised right off the big screen.” Mattel’s product page gives the collectible’s details.
Movie car and toy versions: what’s different?
Mattel sells several movie-inspired Corvette products. They are related representations, but their scale, features, and doll capacity differ.
