In a December 16, 2025, interview with Interview magazine, Bianca Censori did not answer questions directly. A woman in a plastic, Bianca-inspired mask spoke beside her as “BIANCA2,” saying backlash was not the goal but could reveal cultural sensitivities. The unusual format was part of a conversation about performance, public image and self-expression.
Who answered the questions in Bianca Censori’s interview?
The conversation, conducted by Taylore Scarabelli and published by Interview Magazine on December 16, 2025, used a masked stand-in. Scarabelli described Censori sitting beside a young woman wearing a plastic mask inspired by Censori. The woman spoke for the interview’s “BIANCA2” voice; Censori did not answer directly in the exchange as described by Scarabelli.
That distinction matters when attributing the interview’s most quoted remarks: they were delivered by the masked speaker, not directly by Censori.
What did the masked speaker say about backlash?
Asked about the possibility of backlash, the masked speaker said: “Backlash isn’t a goal, but it is revealing.” She added: “It shows where cultural sensitivities sit and what people are unable or unwilling to name directly.” The interview presents these as the speaker’s interpretation of the response to the work, not as a measured finding about audiences.

The speaker described self-expression as the aim: “Bianca’s end goal is self-expression.”
Why was there a masked stand-in?
The interview followed BIO POP, identified there as Censori’s debut performance in Seoul. In discussing the work, the masked voice spoke about clothing and the body as a surface, the public image that forms around a person, and the ways audiences interpret images of control or fetish.
Rank #2
The speaker called the doppelgangers “spillages” that emerge when a public image separates from the person associated with it. In that framing, the masked figure and the copies explored how a public image can circulate and be interpreted independently. The interview presents this as an explanation of the work, rather than establishing a definitive motive beyond the speaker’s account.
Scarabelli also made the interviewer’s presence part of the scene, writing: “Instead, a young, dark-haired woman muffled by a plastic Bianca-inspired mask is speaking for her, and I, ‘the media,’ am part of the performance.”

What the interview establishes—and what it does not
The published exchange documents an experimental interview format and the masked speaker’s account of BIO POP. It does not offer survey results or other quantitative evidence about how audiences responded to the performance. A PerthNow report published December 18, 2025 also describes the masked-stand-in format, but the original Interview conversation is the source for the quotations above.
