Spoilers for Episodes 5–8 of Wednesday Season 2. The final four episodes deliver a powerful Thing reveal and a consequential Enid–Wednesday climax, but the season lands its emotional story more convincingly than its sprawling plot. The deaths raise the stakes; they are not, by themselves, proof that every thread has come together.
Released September 3, 2025, Part 2 comprises Episodes 5–8, ending with “This Means Woe.” Netflix’s episode guide identifies those four episodes as the second part of the season; its September 3 update says all eight Season 2 episodes are streaming on Netflix. Does Part 2 stick the landing?
Qualified yes. Its strongest payoffs grow out of character relationships rather than the body count: Thing’s origin gives his loyalty a history, and Enid’s decision to save Wednesday turns their friendship into the season’s emotional climax. But the finale has to gather several mysteries and conflicts at once, and not every strand receives equally satisfying resolution.
That split is reflected in two reviews published September 3, 2025. TheWrap identifies Wednesday and Enid’s friendship as the show’s grounding force while criticizing convoluted plots and drawn-out storylines. GamesRadar+ praises Jenna Ortega and Owen Painter’s Slurp/Isaac, but also finds some story strands tedious and their convergence messy. Those are individual critical judgments, not evidence of a consensus; together, they point to the finale’s central trade-off: emotional focus amid narrative crowding.

The events below are the major ending turns, not a full episode-by-episode recap.
Thing’s origin becomes the season’s defining reveal
Thing is revealed to be Isaac Night’s severed hand, reanimated after Morticia cut it off. In the confrontation with Isaac, Thing pulls out his clockwork heart and kills him, then returns to the Addams family. The reveal is shocking, but its value is not just surprise: it reframes Thing’s place in the family and makes his choice to remain with them feel earned. It is the finale’s clearest marriage of plot revelation and emotional payoff.

Enid saves Wednesday, at a cost
Enid becomes an alpha werewolf and transforms to save Wednesday from Isaac. The transformation leaves her in wolf form, and Wednesday rides off to find her. Netflix’s finale explainer quotes co-creator and co-showrunner Alfred Gough describing the change as a new twist that isolates Enid again, after she had found belonging in the pack: “In Season 2 Enid becomes part of the pack. She has everything she wants. But then this new twist on her ability — it isolates her again.” Co-creator and co-showrunner Miles Millar calls female friendship and sisterhood “the heart and soul of the show.” Netflix Tudum’s finale explainer supplies the canonical account and creator comments; their explanations illuminate the intended stakes but do not settle whether every viewer finds the ending effective.
The moment gives the friendship real consequence, rather than treating it as a subplot beside Wednesday’s investigations. It also leaves a major consequence unresolved: Enid is endangered and separated from the group, but she is not reported dead.

Tyler survives, while Dort does not
Tyler accidentally kills his mother, Francoise, during a Hyde fight. He survives and accepts an alliance with Isadora Capri. Wednesday frees him rather than killing him, so their conflict remains open rather than ending in a neat execution or reconciliation.
Principal Dort is exposed as the Morning Song cult’s mastermind. Ajax turns him to stone, and a falling chandelier crushes him. His death closes the immediate threat posed by the cult’s leader; Tyler’s survival and alliance, by contrast, extend his danger and uncertainty.

Ophelia is a new mystery, not a resolved arc
Aunt Ophelia is alive and locked in a room at Hester’s house. The discovery adds another hook rather than explaining her full story. The ending also sends Wednesday after Enid, giving the finale a clear next action while leaving the consequences for both characters unsettled.

The finale’s deaths do different jobs. Isaac’s death completes Thing’s turn from a mysterious companion into a family member who chooses the Addamses. Francoise’s accidental death complicates Tyler’s path rather than removing him from the story. Dort’s death ends the immediate Morning Song threat. These events change loyalties, relationships, or the danger facing the characters; counting them alone would miss the point.

Just as important, not every moment of peril is a death. Wednesday survives, Tyler survives, and Enid’s transformation leaves her isolated and in danger, not confirmed dead. Calling Enid’s fate a death would misstate the cliffhanger and erase the more interesting question: what will her new condition mean for her relationship with Wednesday and the pack?
What works best, and what feels crowded?
Character payoffs are stronger than plot economy
Thing’s reveal works because it changes the meaning of an existing bond, not simply because it supplies a startling answer. Enid’s sacrifice similarly makes the friendship central to the climax. These beats give the season an emotional shape even as its mysteries multiply.
The ensemble and mysteries compete for room
The Night family conflict, Morning Song, Tyler’s story, and the other unresolved mysteries converge in the finale. That scale gives the ending momentum, but it also risks making major turns feel like items in a crowded sequence rather than parts of one cleanly resolved investigation. GamesRadar+’s reservations about tedious strands and a messy convergence, alongside TheWrap’s criticism of convolution, are useful cautions: the finale’s spectacle does not make the plotting equally streamlined.
Verdict
Part 2 sticks the landing emotionally, especially through Thing’s origin and Enid’s choice, but only partially in terms of plot closure. The deaths matter when they transform a relationship or remove a threat; the season’s better achievement is making its central friendship and a long-running character reveal carry more weight than shock alone. Its ending has forward motion, but Enid’s fate, Ophelia’s situation, and Tyler’s next move remain open questions rather than completed arcs.
