Ophelia Frump is Morticia Addams’s sister and Wednesday Addams’s aunt. In Season 2, Part 1, she is an important but absent figure in the family’s history—not the hooded Avian behind the crow attacks. That identity is Judi. The first four episodes leave Ophelia’s whereabouts and fate unanswered.
What Part 1 reveals about Ophelia
The first four episodes make Ophelia part of the tension between Morticia and her mother, Hester Frump. Netflix Tudum’s August 9, 2025 mid-season explainer describes the relationship between Hester and Morticia as contentious and says that “whatever happened with Ophelia” remains present in their dynamic. Hester, played by Joanna Lumley, puts the family comparison bluntly: “[Morticia] doesn’t measure up to Ophelia.”

That remark establishes Ophelia’s weight in the family’s emotional history, but it does not tell viewers what happened to her or where she is. Part 1 also positions her as a comparison point for Wednesday’s developing psychic abilities.
Is Ophelia the hooded Avian?
No. Part 1’s mystery about an Avian who controls murderous crows is separate from the family’s Ophelia mystery. The hooded figure is Judi, not Ophelia. After episode 4, viewers should not treat Ophelia’s identity, location, or fate as solved.

What the Season 2 finale confirms
Spoilers for the Season 2 finale (episode 8).
In the finale, Wednesday reads Ophelia’s journal and has a psychic vision of her aunt alive in a dark room at Hester’s mansion. Ophelia writes “Wednesday must die” on the wall. The reveal establishes that Ophelia is alive and confined there, and casts her as a potential threat to Wednesday.
It does not explain how long Ophelia has been confined, who put her there, or why. Her presence in Hester’s mansion is not proof that Hester imprisoned her. Netflix Tudum’s September 8, 2025 finale explainer leaves those questions open, as well as whether Ophelia will ultimately be friend or foe.

What to expect from Ophelia in Season 3
Netflix Tudum’s Season 3 update reports that Eva Green has been cast as Ophelia. Co-creator Miles Millar said, “Ophelia has been gone a long time,” while co-creator Al Gough said the finale glimpse was planned to drive the story into Season 3. Ophelia and Wednesday are both Ravens, and their psychic connection is one of the questions the story has raised; the update does not disclose what Ophelia’s role will be.
Netflix’s official update says Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix; availability can vary by territory and over time.
