What happens in the ad
The campaign opens with characters looking into a can of Pepsi Zero Sugar. The can transforms into a Roman coliseum, where gladiators battle for Empress Megan’s favor—and a sip of Pepsi. The setup borrows the grandeur of Gladiator II and recasts the intensity of football as arena combat.
Alongside Travis Kelce, the players named in PepsiCo’s announcement are Josh Allen, Derrick Henry and Justin Jefferson. Megan appears as Empress Megan, at the center of the spectacle.

Music and production
The soundtrack is “We Will Rock You (Megan Thee Stallion Version),” a campaign track that layers Megan’s lyrics over Queen’s familiar rhythm. PepsiCo said it became available on major music-streaming platforms on September 5, 2024.
Ridley Scott Associates and Paramount Brand Studio produced the campaign film, directed by Jake Scott. The director said the aim was to combine the energy of sport with a tribute to the film and Pepsi’s earlier campaign. Megan described her role as following performers from the earlier Gladiator-themed campaign while creating a new legacy of her own.

Why the commercial is tied to Gladiator II
Pepsi introduced the spot as a return to its “Roman Empire” campaign nearly 20 years later, using the setting to connect its brand with Paramount Pictures’ Gladiator II. “Nearly 20 years” is PepsiCo’s description of the gap, not a measured campaign result.
The original announcement also promoted limited collectibles and a U.S. retail promotion that ran October 6 through December 6, 2024. Those dates have passed; they are historical campaign details, not current offers.

What the ad establishes about Pepsi Zero Sugar
Pepsi Zero Sugar is the drink shown in the commercial’s opening premise. That identifies the featured product, but the campaign is not a taste test or an independent assessment of the beverage.
